HCC module based on Arduino
5 years ago | Blogs | by: SeanHodgins

SeanHodgins made this new module baord that was also available as a kickstarter campaign. This is the HCC module and it is an Arduino based microcontroller. What I most like of it is that it is very small and with a lot of GPIOs all around easy to solder with half pin holes. So if you have the layout of this module, it's more than easy to solder it to any PCB. In this way you would reduce designing time. How? Well, you will only have to design the periferics part and then solder this tiny module in the middle and program it using the serial connection. The chip has a preloaded bootlader so all we should do after the module is soldered, connect the USB then the cable to your PCB and we should be ready to program it as any other Arduino board.

To order your boards, use JLCPCB.com and select your color.

What's very important is that the board you will design must have the USB connector and then, that will be connected to the HCC module. The rest will be done by the small module. It even has a 3.3 volts voltage regulator and it is very low power. It has 6 analog to digital converters, 9 GPIO with SPI, i2c and PWM functions and other 7 more GPIOs that include the UART port. On the top of the module, it has the antive USB input and is there where we should solder the connections from the USB connector. So that's it, when you design one of your projects, you could include this tiny board and save a lot of time since it already has the power regulator part, the microcontroller and USB communication drivers.

As we haev seen in the past blog, you could place this module on a variety of other bigger boards as in case of the MOD_boy controller. It includes a reset pin, so you won't have to add that to the design of your own board. Pretty nice right? Make sure you check SeanHodgins YouTube channel, and if you want to order very cheap boards, use the services of our sponsor, and order PCBs starting from 2 dollars.
